| Present Efforts Underway:
|
- Blank Data Storage Media survey:
Data from this survey will be compiled to establish a contract based
on the quantity requirements and also look at placing the most
frequently requested items items in Univrsity Stores.
|
- Consolidate quantity purchases:
Recommendation to consolidate certain requisitions during the first
five (5) working days of any given month. This could generate
quantity cost savings for a department and reduce the number of POs
and invoices processed to a given vendor. Commodities that will
be initially targeted are:
- Adobe and Macromedia software
- Epson travel projectors
- PDAs (palm pilots, handspring visors, etc)
|
|
Other Ideas being considered include:
|
- The commission is reviewing the possibility
for standardization of cell phone purchases and service.
Purchasing and OIT are putting the finishing touches on an RFP that
should be on the street by March 15th, 2002.
|
- Coordination/analysis of various service
contracts to determine whether a university wide contract
is appropriate or a temporary/provisional employee(s) is (are) a more
cost effective approach;
- web design
- brochure and newsletter development and construction
- Evaluation of university/department
standards for commodities and services to determine whether
their requirements and acquisition generate the best efficiencies and
cost effectiveness
- Coordinating the leasing of vehicles with
other universities
- Security standardizations (e.g.
access, detection)
