Discounts on car rentals are available for University personnel from certain hotel/motel chains and car rental companies. The following are tips on where and how to obtain these discounts. Using the CMU Business MasterCard provides Auto Rental Insurance at no additional charge. The insurance provides coverage to enrolled cardholders who decline the collision damage waiver (or similar option offered by the rental agency) and reserve and pay the car rental charge with the CMU MasterCard. Coverage is on a 24-hour basis for damage due to collision or theft and protects you up to 31 consecutive days for business use. The insurance is primary and provides coverage up to the market value of the vehicle, not to exceed $50,000 per incident. For more Auto Rental Insurance details, visit the Master Card website.

CMU has corporate accounts with five (5) major car rental companies. Four of these companies, Avis, Budget, Hertz and Enterprise, are under contract with E&I Purchasing Group. Avis and Hertz, together with another company, Alamo, are also under contract with HPS Travel Program. Both E&I and HPS offer corporate discounts to its members. The reservation numbers and CMU’s number for each company is listed below.
